Friends of HARC

At HARC, volunteers are not important...

Volunteers are vital! Volunteers are the heart and soul of every program. Volunteers are needed to play with children, to sing songs and make crafts, and make HARC into a joyous experience for the children. The fact is, without volunteers, there would be no HARC.

Volunteers are encouraged! HARC volunteers share friendships. Ours is not just a place where volunteers come and go. Our volunteers are part of a team of friends and family that work together in a fun environment.

Volunteers are loved! Yes, you are loved by the staff who you work with, by our children and by the families.

Volunteers are critical!

HARC volunteers benefit from knowing that they are part of a team helping families of children with autism and mental retardation. But the benefits go further than that. Whether you are needing volunteer hours for your educational experience, hoping to learn more about children with special needs, or just looking for a fulfilling way to spend some free time, the Houston Area Respite Center can help.

If you would like to volunteer your time with the Houston Area Respite Center, contact our director Steve Goad at harcexdir@harc-hou.org and we will be glad to have you.
