HARC's Plans for the Future

Families with children who are mentally handicapped have great needs, and HARC is constantly looking for ways to meet those needs.

Currently, HARC is still in its first phase in meeting those needs with its two initial programs: Its Parents Night Out Program, which gives families a chance to get a way for a few hours on a Friday night, and working in conjunction with Gethsemane UMC,a Sunday School and Worship program, allowing families a chance to go to church.

In the future, HARC is looking for more ways to help children and their families. By the end of 2006, HARC is looking at Parental Support Groups, which will give families a chance to come together, sharing with each other to gain both knowledge and strength in the family journey. HARC is also looking at the concept of sibling support, reaching out to the brothers and sisters of children with special needs.

HARC is also looking at ways to educate the community at large about the needs of children who have menally handicapping conditions and their parents.

HARC welcomes your suggestions as to ways to reach out to children, their parents, and the community at large. If there is some way that we can assist you, contact HARC through the contact information at the top of the page, or email our Executive Director, and we will be glad to speak with you.
